Geologist
Department: Exploration, Safety

Purpose
Under the direction of the supervisor, the Geologist performs geological field exploration work and office studies, manages data and produces geological reports as part of a team seeking to discover metallic ore bodies. , and may participate in technical planning, budgeting, expediting, field management, reporting to government agencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in exploration projects doing exploration field work – mapping, sampling, trenching and drilling.
Participate and contribute to technical planning and budgeting.
In some cases, supervise exploration staff and contractors.
Compile and manage exploration data.
Assist in maintenance of land tenure, assessment reporting, permitting, government reporting.
Review of field work to ensure professional standards are met.
Prepare reports documenting exploration activities and results.
Other responsibilities as may be required or assigned by the Project Geologist.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:
Working knowledge of GIS systems
Familiarity with field data acquisition software and data handling
Basic Microsoft Office
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelors of Science in Geology or related field
Previous experience working in Alaska or similar terrain.
Dynamic, high energy, self-motivated and ability to make independent decisions
Must enjoy outdoor work and be able to tolerate difficult weather and terrain.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Experience with Cordilleran Intrusion-Related Gold deposits and Porphyry Copper-Gold deposits
Comfortable with working mountainous terrain
Advanced computer skills
Strong technical writing skills
Working Conditions
Remote locations typically in exploration camp style work environment
Extended periods away from home base
Physical Work Demands
Physical ability to work in remote areas where operating equipment, climbing, walking long distances, working in steep terrain may be required.
